Rich, I have been raving about the trip to all my mates. Needless to say we had a wonderful time. The Mekong delta is a very special place and your guidance made it a trip I will never forget. I need your snail mail address so I can send you some pictures of the trip. Hope you are well. cheers, anu Anu Shinnamon, MPH

Dear Richard,

We are back in Canada. The jetlag was a bit hard but after a week I feel completely fine. Claude was certainly happy to see me, and we enjoyed playing golf this week. I would like to let you know that although we had little differences, I really enjoyed my trip and Vietnam. I think the last three days with you were some highlights of our trip. Snorkling, the very nice evening of music and singing. Also the Thai evening. I keep all the good memories very preciously. We continued our trip north. Hoi An, Hue, Hanoi and Halong Bay, also Nha Trang . I thought Vietnam was a great country with great people although hygiene is not yet a concern for them as it is for us North Americans. We met in Hanoi a lady from Oxfam. She was from Québec and she told us that they have a program now to educate women how to dispose of garbage and protect the nice waters they have in Halong Bay. Anyway Richard thank you for your patience and I would like to tell you that this trip will be in my memory for a long time. Say hello to everybody. I will probably visit friends in Bangkok in November. Best regards Louise

Hello, Rich. We're all home and back to "normal", cooking is the biggest adjustment... its unusually cold this long weekend, so can't do much gardening or biking,(rain)... . great to spend time with my grandkids here. In a week I fly east to babysit my daughters boy for 2 weeks. Her musical "Pal Joey" is up and running, so will be exciting to see her in it.. We girls all spend lots time thinking of all we did and saw on our trip. I think we packed tons into our 25 days.. you showed us areas we would never have seen on our own.. Wasn't the scenery stunning almost everywhere? The special events you arranged were really appreciated, the Thai cultural evening, the hiking day in Dalat, the swim/snorkel on the island at Cana, and it added variety to the biking, after we left you, we enjoyed the bus ride to Hue, after a good stay in Nha Trang (great beach), we biked 20 km.in Nha Trang and again in Hoi An, which was a lovely town, but very determined sales girls.. We endured a n unpleasant train overnite to Hanoi ( 15 hrs,) hot noisy, hard berth, thats another story!) enjoyed Hanoi. took a scenic boat trip overnite to Halong Bay,,beautiful place. but garbage floating around a bit.. we jumped in to swim, jellyfish nearby!! On the way north and to Halong Bay we saw so many graves in the rice feilds, legacy of the U.S. war... Hanoi is a pretty city, saw the water puppet show, very worthwhile ( thats my kind of culture). Linda, Louise and I walked up the mtn. yesterday, we appreciate what we have here so much space and beauty and quiet.. . our trip wasn't always easy and smooth, but we feel fortunate for the adventure and what we experienced in another world. The route you took us on biking was right for us. Greetings to Ly and Kiet and Hung . Will watch the world peace program from Hanoi. Regards, Rich, Isabelle

Hi Rich

Isabelle called a while ago to tell me that Linda found her necklace. (You were right to believe the staff) No shoes [sandals left outside cottage--Rich] but I am sure that is not much of an issue. It seems the girls very much enjoyed the biking and appreciated what you were able to do for them.

Regards

Jim Wright
